Prince, one of the most important and iconic musicians of the 20th century, has died at his home in Minnesota. He was 57 years old.
His body was found early Thursday morning in his Paisley Park home in Minnesota, and as yet there is no official cause of death. The singer/songwriter had recently cancelled two shows due to health concerns, and it was reported that his plane was forced to make an emergency landing on April 15th when he had a severe case of the flu.
Prince was considered by many to be one of the most gifted and talented songwriters of his generation, releasing 39 studio albums throughout his career, the most famous of which being 1984’s Purple Rain which sold 22 million copies and is consistently ranked amongst the best albums of all time. He also sold more than 100 million albums, and was inducted into the rock & roll hall of fame in 2004.
